Don’t get out of your car. Don’t get off of your tractor. Let the Edison Sliding Opener™ open your barn doors with ease. Great for vehicular sliding door applications, the Edison will revolutionize your sliding door operation. Now you can open a sliding door just as you would your conventional garage door. It’s that simple with the Edison Sliding Opener.

The Edison is ideal for commercial use, agricultural purposes, or residential applications. There is nothing out there as simple, affordable, powerful, quiet or reliable.

As America’s premier builder of carriage doors, Real Carriage Door & Sliding Hardware developed and designed the Edison in 2008 with collaboration from our European manufacturer, tailoring it to be simple, robust, and ideal for the most common sliding setups possible:

Single-Slide (single door or multiple cascading doors moving in one direction to open/close)

Biparting (two doors meeting in the middle of opening)

By-Passing (two doors passing by each other is same opening)

The Edison is available in two powerful models:

¾ HP

  • Medium duty
  • Has a slightly faster opening/closing speed
  • For doors up to 300lbs
  • 7lb max force to open

1HP

  • Heavy duty
  • For doors up to 700lbs
  • 12lb max force to open

Upgrade option: Simply change out the motor should you decide to upgrade or downgrade to different motor strength. The change out is easy and without any major disruption as the setup is the same, only the motors are different. All this for a simple motor only replacement purchase.

Flat Track Hardware

Flat Track Sizes:

"How do I choose a track size?"
Simply double the size of your door(s) to determine the proper track length. Example: a 36" wide door will need a 6' track. Example: (2) 36" wide doors will require 12' of track.

Finish Options:

"Tell me more… "
Choose from a variety of powder coated finishes or raw steel. Our powder coated finishes consist of a durable baked-on finish. All powder coated finishes have a matte finish.

Quantity of doors on track:

"What's this?"
Please tell us how many doors you wish to hang on this hardware track.

Bottom Guide:

"What's this?"
The Bottom Guide keeps the door steady. The T-Guide is a floor mounted guide that requires a groove in the bottom of the door. The C-Guide is a floor mounted guide that cups the bottom of the door and is also available in an adjustable option. The Wall Mounted Stay Roller is a wall mounted guide that works with doors from 1-1/2" to 2-3/4" thick. This is an ideal guide for extra thick doors and exterior applications.

Door Thickness:

"Why do I need to specify a door thickness"
We ask for door thickness so we know what size of carriage bolt to include in the hardware kit. Carriage bolts attach the hanger to the door. If your door's thickness falls between sizes, simply round up to the next available size.

End Stop Option:

"What is an end stop"
End stops keep the door from flying off the track. Standard end stops are designed to fit at the far ends of the track, secured by the lag bolts. Adjustable end stops slide along the rail and tighten down with set screws wherever you wish.

Wheel Style:

"Tell me more … "
Choose from a variety of wheel options such as a matching steel wheel or a black Hush wheel. Or upgrade to a stainless steel wheel or a stainless steel Hush wheel. Hush wheels are made of a high quality, durable polymer and make for smooth, ultra-quiet operation.

Fastener Option:

"What's this?"
This refers to carriage bolts (which attach the hanger to the door) and lag bolts (which help secure the track to the wall). Choosing your fastener finish lets you customize the look of your hardware kit to your liking.

Box Rail

Box Rail Mounting:

"What does this mean?"
Please specify whether you want to mount the hardware kit to the wall or the ceiling so we can ensure you receive the proper mounting brackets.

Lag Bolts:

"What's this?"
Here you can specify whether you would like to order lag bolts through us or supply your own. A variety of finishes is available for those who wish to order lags through us. Save a trip to the hardware store with our high quality lags.

Franklin Openers

Opener Battery Backup:

"What's this?"
The battery backup is an add-on that allows you to operate the Franklin opener despite power outages.

Homelink Compatibility:

"What's this?"
The Homelink Compatibility option is an add-on that allows you to operate your garage door system directly from your car.

Wireless Outdoor Keypad:

"What's this?"
The Wireless Outdoor Keypad is an add-on allowing you to enjoy exterior access to your doors without a remote. Operates up to 10 doors.

Wiring Kit for Remodel:

"What's this?"
Our wiring kit includes the approved, cut-to-length wiring we recommend for remodeling projects. Add to your opener order and save a trip to the hardware store.

AOCM

AOCM Horsepower:

"Tell me more₀ "
This ceiling mounted opener for out-swing doors is available in either a ¾ or 1 horsepower option. The 24V DC motor allows up to 70 door movements per hour.

"What's this?"
The AOCM includes standard push rods to accommodate an opening up to 108". Push rod extension upgrades are available for door openings of 109"-120", 121"-132" and 133"-156".

Swiss/Hex

"What's this?"
This pull is available for doors that are 1-3/8", 1-3/4" or 2-1/4" thick. Simply choose the best option for your door.

Door Width:

"What's this?"
Simply choose the width of door you would like. Note: The barn door width should overlap the opening by at least 2".

Door Height:

"What's this?"
Simply choose the height of door you would like. Note: The barn door height should overlap the top of the opening by at least 1".

Style:

"What's this?"
Simply choose the style of door you would like. Note: Click on each option below to preview style in photos on left.

Finishes:

"What's this?"
Simply choose the finish color option you would like or select "None" if you plan to finish the door yourself. Note: Some door styles such as Weathered, Reclaimed, and Timeline not available in unfinished option.

Shop Applied Finish:

"What's this?"
Please tell us whether you would like us to apply the door finish for you by selecting "yes" or "no." If you choose "yes" we will ship the door pre-finished. If you choose "no" we will ship the door raw and include the finish you selected above.

Shop Pre-Assembly:

"What's this?"
We can ship the barn door pre-assembled or unassembled. If you would like us to pre-assemble the door for you, shipping it whole, choose "yes." If you would like the door shipped in pieces to assemble yourself, choose "no."

"I'm extremely pleased with the quality and finish of the classic barn door hardware. We installed five different doors in our latest project. We couldn't be happier with the fit and finish and ease of installation."
