You can paint the door using our milk paint (or choose Shop Applied Finish above to have us finish your door). Available in a range of colors, from traditional to ecclectic. VOC-free, this paint is mixed with water for a fast drying finish. For a clear finish, use our easy-to-apply Barn Beeswax.
Real Barn Doors are meant to be used in a sliding function only, and in interior applications. For custom swing-out doors, custom sliding doors, or exterior doors, visit Real Carriage Doors. Sliding hardware not included. See our Real Sliding Hardware options.
Shop Applied Finish:
Our shop will apply several coats of the finish of your choice on all sides of the planks, and apply a beeswax top coat. Choose either a "semi-transparent stain", to allow some wood character to show through (as pictured), or a "semi-solid stain." A "semi-transparent stain" is the most authentic barn door "white washed" look, while a "semi-solid stain" is just as it sounds, "semi-solid stain." Order finish samples here.
When the kit arrives, you will need to assemble the pieces.
Working on a deadline? Our shop will assemble the door for you and ship it to you as a single unit. For a completed look, choose "Shop-Applied Finish" and a color.

The door is extremely solid. I had my contractor assemble and finish and I love it.

I purchased this door as a kit. My 12 year old son and I beat it up with a chain and a pizza cutter to weather it before we finished it. I love this door. Assembly was pretty simple, once I bought a mallot. Now that it's built, this is a solid door. I was happy to find no warping and love the natural beauty of the wood.
It took both paint and stain beautifully. (I stained the back side to show when I slide it closed)
